Monument record 1160/0/101 - Possible Medieval Inhumations. Horsemarket

Three skeletons were observed in a contractors trench in 1972 just north of the Horsemarket/Marefair junction. Possibly associated with the St Martins Chapel Cemetery.

{1} Finds; Observation in 1972 of contractor's trench immediately to the north-west of Horsemarket/Marefair road junction revealed remains of three human skeletons, possibly medieval in date.

{2} Observation of services trench just north of the Horsemarket/Marefair junction in 1972. Three burials were identified, possibly medieval.

{3} Burials were also located c25m to the north-west during archaeological excavations associated with Sol Central and it was thought likely that the cemetery extended south-east perhaps as far as Marefair, which would have included these burials.
