Monument record 1160/110/1 - Foundations of Medieval Stone Building, St John's Street

{1}Timber buildings were replaced by stone structures in late medieval period;,

{2}Remains of stone building at south-east of Trench E; ironstone blocks with rubble core; C13th pottery; no floor levels; layers of sandy clay loam & charcoal & ironstone rubble abutted 2 walls; walls partially robbed at later date; series of intercutting pits to north of building from which C13/14th pottery recovered; medieval features sealed by post medieval contexts including a ditch containing C16/17th pottery;,

{3}Stone founded structure of late medieval date replaced timber structure.
