Summary
Possible site of Roman villa. Scatters of stone have been collected from the site, although no Roman material was recorded. Roman coins were also recovered from the area prior to 1712.

Full Description
{1} (SP 974740) "In the fields above Mill Cotton that is those of Ringstead, have been ploughed up a few pieces of Roman money, particularly just above the place called Mallows Cotton".
{2} Auth {1} when stating "above the place called Mallows Cotton" probably means up the hillside and not north. This would give an area centred approx SP 980737.
Northampton Museum 6" records a Ro villa at approx SP 97777333 and quotes AO records CWP 1.3.49. There are scatters of stone in several places but no Roman material was found. See SP 97 SE 33 which probably refers.
