Full Description

{1} Unclassified Romano-British finds.

{3} An iron cultrum or chopper, discovered at Astrop, Northamptonshire. It measured 9ins in length x 2.25ins in breadth at the base of the blade. Also an iron knife or spatula, 6.5ins long, the blade 3.5ins in length x 1ins breadth. These were found together with a Roman denarius of Vespasian.

{4} An iron object described as a 'cultrum or chopper' together with an 'iron knife or spatula' and a Roman coin of Vespasian were discovered at Astrop in the C19th.

{5} Kings Sutton: iron knife and chopper and denarius of Vespasian from Astrop.

{6} Finds made during the C19th, including a Roman Denarius of Vespasian and possibly a Roman iron knife or spatula, possible Roman 'Cultrum' or 'Chopper' made of iron; fieldname where they were found was called Lower Astrop.

{7} Northampton Museum have no record of the above finds.

{8} "An iron cultrum or chopper (was discovered at Astrop (SP 50 36) .... also an iron knife or spatula .... together with a Roman denarius of Vespasian".
