Summary

An earthen jug was found at Claycoton by the Rev Assheton. It contained 435 groats of the 15th century. The latest dated were of Henry VII.

Full Description

{3} Unlocated medieval coin hoard found 'near the village' several years before 1865. A hoard of 435 C15th groats, mostly of Edward IV but some as early as Henry IV and some as late as Henry VII, was discovered in a small earthenware pot with an olive green glaze.

{4} Find pre 1865, unlocated. A medieval coin hoard of 435 C15th groats in a green glazed pot vessel. The latest coins were of Henry VII.
