Summary

A mosaic is said to have been found at Mallow's Cotton in the 1930s. Further evidence of a possible Roman building was identified during a watching brief in 1987.

Full Description

{1} Local reports (including from the landowner) of finds in the 1930's; reported to D. Windell in 1986. In the field centered approximately SP98007310, a mosaic pavement is said by a local informant to have been found at Mallow's Cotton in the 1930's; it was not plough damaged, however no accurate location was given.

{2} Archaeological observation during the A605 development recorded stonework, yellow clay and mortar in a drainage ditch which could denote a further building.
