Monument record 1726/0/1 - Possible Iron Age/Roman settlement, near Cumberland Avenue

Iron Age or Romano-British storage pits found in this area in 1937-9 during construction of Council houses.

{1} Iron Age/Roman pits found by RW Brown in 1938-9 near Cumberland Avene during development. A Rollings gives SP98207176.

{2} Possible Iron Age and Roman settlement (SP 98207176) found during building construction in 1937–9. No details.

{4} IA/RB storage pits found in area SP 984 719 by R W Brown, 1938-9.

{5} Mr Rollings, 51 Little Street, Rushden states that the pits were found in the area of Cumberland Avenue SP98207176 between 1937-39 when the Council houses were constructed. He has no closer siting information and knows nothing of the finds.
