Monument record 1346/0/2 - Possible Iron Age Ditches & Pits

Pits containing Romano British pottery and Samian and grey ware were revealed by a gas pipeline trench prior to 1967. Air photographs taken in 1979 have also shown cropmarks of a ditch in the area.

{1} Pipeline development in 1967. Probable Iron Age ditches and pits were observed at SP97557205.

{2} A series of features (stretching NE from SP 96906968) for 400ft were revealed by a gas pipe trench. Some pits contained RB sherds, Samian and grey ware.

{3} Mr Rollings said the reference is grossly in error and should read SP 96907091.

{4} Cropmark site located at (SP 969710) and recorded as a ditch in 1979.
