Summary

Iron Age type ditches and pits were located whilst a trench was being cut for a gas pipeline in 1967. Romano British pottery and limestone were also recovered. Cropmarks resembling a rectangular building have been recorded, although they may be agricultural markings.

Full Description

{1} Roman pot sherds and limestone rubble were found in a pipeline trench at SP976721.

{2} Roman pottery and limestone rubble were exposed during the cutting of a pipeline trench at SP976721.

{3} Mr Rollings, No.51 Little Street, Rushden stated that he had seen ditches and pits of IA type in the trench being cut for a gas pipeline at SP 97557205 during Sept 1967. Nothing of archaeological significance seen at the site at the time of investigation.
