Full Description

{1} This barrow was not excavated as the decision was made to preserve it. The mound appeared to be constructed of red-brown sandy clay representing a turf makeup, although the height of surviving mound was not ascertained. The ditch was very irregular, varying from 1.3-1.1m in width. A single comb-decorated Beaker sherd was found in the ditch. An area of scorched clay, 0.5m in diameter, had been cut into the top of the mound at its centre. Burnt bone, ash and rim fragments of an early Bronze Age cremation urn were recovered from the surface.
