Summary

Several possible pits 'filled with rubbish' were reported in antiquarian sources. Found somewhere in Twywell Field. A fragment of possible Roman cinerary urn was also discovered

Full Description

{1}Unlocated features were found; several conical round holes filled with rubbish were discovered in Twywell Field; animal bones, antler and a fragment of urn; possibly Roman;

{2} The features were 3yds in diameter;

{5} Several conical round holes partly filled with rubbish were discovered "in scaly ground at the upper end of Twywell Field, near a footway leading to Cranford when the turnpike was being constructed." Animal bones were found among the rubbish, also a piece of antler and a fragments of an urn. (These finds were classed as Roman; a classification which Haresfield {2} doubts).

{6} Northampton and Kettering Museums consulted, no knowledge of the above finds noted. "Twywell Field" was unknown to locals consulted.
