Summary

A rectangular crop mark recorded from air photos. A few Romano British sherds have been gathered from the surface but these may be unrepresentative as the field has only been lightly ploughed. Two Mesolithic/Neolithic flints have also been found.

Full Description

{1} Cropmark showing rectangular enclosure; fieldname: Billing Lane.

{2} Rectangular cropmarks seen in 1962 in area of SP820624.

{3} Roman settlement at SP819624. Rectangular enclosure has been seen from the air at this point.

{4} Cropmarks seen by Hollowell at SP821624 in 1962. There are surface disturbances in the field at this site, which is under pasture, but they form no coherent pattern.

{5} SP 819624. A rectangular crop mark recorded from air photos. A few Romano British sherds have been gathered from the surface but these may be unrepresentative as the field has only been lightly ploughed. Two Mesolithic/Neolithic flints have also been found. (This grid reference may be in error as the site is located on an accompanying map in field centre at SP 821625).
