Monument record 2094/0/5 - Romano-British Ditches & Possible Corn Drier, south of Talavera Way

Summary
Archaeological watching brief undertaken in 1974 identified Roman features including ditches, a pit containing carbonised grain and a paved surface. Most of the pottery dated between the 1st and 2nd centuries, with some 3rd century pottery also associated with the surface.

Full Description
{1} Features recorded September 1974. SP804645. Two intersecting ditches, one with late C1st or early C2nd pottery.
{2} Also another ditch with Romano-British C1st-C2nd pot sherds and a shallow pit with carbonised cereal grain suggesting its use as a corn dryer. Also a paved area with coarse pottery dating from the C1st to the C3rd. SP80466448.
