A possible Bronze Age burial cist was uncovered in the mid 18th century, reportedly on the road between Oundle and Thrapston. The burials may have been accompanied by grave goods including torcs.

Full Description

{1} Finds made in 1754; precise location unknown but reported to be on 'the new road between Thrapston and Oundle at about Ivenhoe'. A possible Bronze Age stone cist with 'skeletons with wreathed brasses around their necks' and near them 'a hollow of stones with burnt ashes and bones and deer's horn and the like'.

{2} Possibly Wadenhoe;

{3} The road must be the Oundle -Thrapston turnpike built in 1754;

{5} "Skeletons with wreathed brass around their necks" were found "on the new road between Thrapstone and Oundle at about Ivenhoe" in 1754; "near them, a hollow of stones, with burnt ashes, bones, deer's horn, and the like".
(No other information. 'Ivanhoe' unlocated.)

{6} Road not=via Wadenhoe;

{7} No further information. 'Ivanhoe' is unknown to postal authorities in both Oundle and Thrapston.
