Full Description

{2} Finds at Sudborough. A late Saxon grave slab and decorated stone, possibly from a cross. Found under a pillar while replacing the north-easternmost of four pillars nearest the pulpit, during restoration work in 1891. Replaced and cemented over. The two uppermost stones of the foundation were parts of a "stone cross". Rubbings of two stones and a print of the grave slab of 1904 by Markham.
