Full Description

{1} A circular moat with much 11th and 12th-century pottery is alleged to have been found. No trace of the moat can now be seen although a scatter of medieval pottery covers the area

{3} Fieldwalking survey undertaken as part of the Fina Pipeline Project. A scatter of medieval, 11th and 12th century pottery, found to the north of the field boundary- 46 sherds evenly distributed. No stone or other evidence of buildings found. The pottery could have been derived from kilns or manuring scatter.

{6} The area referred to by authy's 1 and 2 is at present under spring crop and has not been perambulated. The farmer who for the past 4 years has cultivated the field has no knowledge of this former moat.

{7} The area is at present under corn stubble. No traces of a former earthwork could be seen and no pottery was found. Mr. Wyman Abbott is seriously ill and was not consulted.
