Summary

Homestead moat located immediately north east of the village onthe south side of a brook. The site consists of a small rectangular island completely surrounded by a ditch, which is now dry, with the remains of a water-channel leading from the brook in the northwest corner. Possibly medieval in origin, although it may be the site of a house built by Sir Robert Kirkham in the early 16th century and demolished in the late 17th century.
