Romano-British pot sherds were found along the river bank "at the ancient ford" prior to 1954.

{1} Finds made pre 1954. Romano-British pot sherds were found along the river bank "at the ancient ford". TL07719716. Probably from river dredging.

{3} Much RB pottery has been found at the ancient ford (at TL 0771 9716) and all along the river hereabouts.

{4} The river banks are built up, partly with dredged material, and the finds were probably made in this. Nothing of interest was seen and the ford could not be identified.
