Monument record 2920/0/1 - Medieval/post-medieval settlement remains, north of St Peter's Church

Deene village settlement remains suggest village shrinkage. Probable earthworks of former building platforms.

{1} Within a small paddock of just over 1ha are a number of low scarps and banks, some of which are probably former building platforms. The site was formerly part of Deene village but was already deserted by the early 17th century (various 17th century maps of Deene Park and parish in Northamptonshire Record Office).

{4} Evidence of a shrunken village comes from an extensive pottery scatter and domestic rubbish. The closes were in fact the old gardens or crofts of the former houses.
