Full Description

{1} The long, river like lake, set diagonally east to west across the southerly vista, is retained by a dam, and the stream that feeds it has numerous low weirs to slow its flow and increase its width. It is unclear when the lake was made. Eyre's map of Northamptonshire, dated 1779, shows a much smaller, pear-shaped pond with a north to south axis, placed well to the south east of the house.
