Three Neolithic polished stone axes and other flint implements inluding spearheads of flint and stonework picked up in fosse outside the agger of the Roman Fort at Irchester.

Full Description

{1} Three polished stone axes are said to have been found near Irchester. One is of Group I, another is of Group VI, while the third is of Group XV.

{2} Spearheads of flint and stonework picked up in fosse outside the agger of the Roman Fort at Irchester.

{3} A long trench dug between the east wall of the Roman town (SP 96 NW 2) and the eastern hedge of Burrow Field showed some flints or scrapers.

{4} Three neolithic stone celts found near Irchester, now in Northampton Museum.

{5} There appears to be no relationship between Authorities {2} and {4}.
