Summary

Roman pottery of 3rd-4th-century date was found in 1965, and subsequently pottery of Nene Valley type and some tiles have been discovered. It has been suggested that they may indicate the remains of a settlement. The finds remains in private ownership.

Full Description

{2} Roman settlement (SP 985690), immediately west of Caldecote on the edge of a stream, on Cornbrash at 200ft above OD. Roman pottery of 3rd-4th century date was found in 1965 and subsequently pottery of
Nene Valley type and some tiles have been discovered.

{4} The site falls in a hay field. Perambulation produced nothing. J Fox, 96A Orlingbury Road, Isham, has a large personal collection of archaeological material that he has found whilst field walking. He cannot recall the above specific finds but R Moore (Northampton Museum) has seen the pottery which he classifies as "fragmentary", of
3c/4c date.
