Full Description

{3} Housing development revealed an Iron Age site, which appears to be part of a hut footing sleeper trench together with a few pits and postholes. Some of the pits and postholes appear to make up part of a rectangular building. One pit contained much occupation debris and another was bottle-shaped. A ditch was also noted. The pottery is in the A tradition but shows B influences. The site can only have been occupied for a short time. (plan)

{4}Building works revealed a small early Iron Age settlement with pits and ditches;

{5} (SP 913630) Building works revealed several pits, one being bottle shaped which yielded I A Pottery.

{6} Mr Hall said this was a small site and nothing has been reported since the above, now under crop.

{7} Small Iron Age site excavated by David Hall. Finds are held by Northamptonshire ARC, but no accompanying notes. Pottery includes thin- and thick-walled shell gritted storage jars with horizontal and vertical scoring (some sherds conjoin), possible CBM with flint inclusions. Other finds include some animal bone (long bones, teeth, jaw, ribs). Some published in the Beds Arch J.
