Full Description

{1} Iron Age sherds found at SP858585 by fieldwalking in February 1966.

{2} Area of SP85855845, The Avenue. Iron Age and Roman sherds found (grey ware, calcite gritted and colour coated wares), as well as iron slag and a stone scatter. Found by Hollowell in 1966. These finds may be linked with the Roman coins found in 1719 when The Avenue was being laid out.

{3} SP858584, across and west of The Avenue. Iron Age and Roman pottery, together with iron slag and a scatter of stones were found in 1966. Roman coins found in The Avenue in 1719 may be from this site.

{4} Coins found in 1719 in the avenue leading to Lord Northampton's house.

{5} Possibly linked with coins found in 1719. Fieldname: The Avenue.

{7} Fieldwalking in 1966 by Hollowell identified a stone area with Iron Age and Romano-British pot sherds, including grey ware, calcite gritted ware and colour coated ware, along with iron slag.

{9} R Hollowell confirms the area; he does not know where the sherds are but there were "quite a few". Site under stubble; no finds made during investigation.
