Full Description

{1} SP851579. Iron Age (and Roman) sherds found by fieldwalking in February 1966 by Hollowell.

{2} Area of SP850579 (Swing Gates). A little Iron Age pottery including Belgic forms was found in 1966. Also a few worke flints and iron slag, close to a patch of stones. Some of the pottery has combing on the body. (Also Roman pottery at SP852579).

{3} Iron Age and Roman finds (SP 850579 and 852579), SW of the village, on Boulder Clay at 95 m. above OD. A little Iron Age pottery, including some Belgic forms, worked flints and iron slag were found, associated with a patch of stones (SP 850579). A little to the E (SP 852579) Roman pottery has been found.

{5} R Hollowell confirmed the site; the pottery was very fragmentary and difficult to classify but D Jackson (MOW inspector) said it was IA-RB. Site now under stubble; no finds made.
