Summary

Iron Age pottery suggests a possible settlement in the north of the parish. Ditches, Bronze Age worked flint and Roman pottery have also been found.

Full Description

{1} (SP 833596) BA worked flints and Samian pottery found in 1962 by R Hollowell. Ditches and ? IA sherds.

{3} Surface finds from 1962 consist of sherds of Iron Age pottery from dark patches on the surface of the field, and worked flints. Site name: Lock's Tump.

{4} Iron Age settlement (?)(SP 834597 fig 19), in the extreme N of the parish, on Boulder Clay and gravel at 100 m. above OD. Iron Age pottery and worked flints have been found, associated with dark areasof soil. Worked flints and samian pottery have also been found in theadjacent field to the SW.

{5} R Hollowell cannot recall the above finds. Field now under crop.
