Full Description

{1} Site of Roman building or buildings found in a ploughed field at SP 837600 near Cogenhoe during 1959. Fragments of flue and roofing tile, tesserae, querns, iron slag, a large number of 1st to 4th c coins, bronze pins, a bone comb, two fibulae and two skeletons were found in 1967. A pewter dish and portion of another found with the skeletons are now in the Northampton Museum, together with two bracelets from the site. Finds of IA pottery, a blue glass bead and worked flints have also been made.

{2} In 1959 four human skeletons were ploughed out at SP837600, two of which were children, and one had two pewter dishes with it.
