Full Description

{1} Ditches and pits containing Iron Age and early Roman pottery were noted here in 1966 when a pipeline crossed the area, and part of a human skull was recorded.

{2} In 1966 over 20 features were seen during the laying of a gas pipe through Brafield parish, at SP 824584. These were mainly quite small black earth-filled ditches, but one or two may have been post holes. Late Iron Age and early Roman pottery was found. (Nothing on AP's)

{4} Field name: Smith's Close

{5} Mr Hollowell of Cogenhoe said nothing was definite about these ditches or holes; the earth was very 'crumbly', and the pottery was fragmentary and not retained. The pipe line passes 50m to the NW of the site.
