Monument record 3425/0/1 - Possible Middle Iron Age settlement

A possible Iron Age ditch was identified during the construction of the bypass in 1978

{3} SP 81005927. A ditch containing Iron Age pottery found during road construction in 1978.


{4} Ditch and possible Iron Age pot sherds. The ditch was truncated to a depth of 0.40m by ridge and furrow. The furrows destroy stratigraphy to at least 0.60m below the Iron Age land surface. The ditch was recorded in work on the by-pass.
