Fieldwalking survey in 1958 found significant quantities of Iron Age and Romano-British pottery and other finds including roof tiles, coins and the upper part of a rotary quern.

Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking in 1958 recovered Iron Age and Romano-British pot sherds, a bronze bracelet, roof tiles, the upper part of a puddingstone rotary quern, firebars, a bronze brooch, Roman coins of Constantine and Constantius, a quernstone and a barbed and tanged arrowhead.

{3}Part of a Roman bronze bracelet was found at SP 803565 in Great Houghton parish in December 1966 by Mr J Parsons.

{4} SP803564. Fieldname: Peatnells. Iron Age and Roman pottery found from 1958, with roofing tiles, upper portion of puddingstone rotary quern, firebars, part of bronze twisted wire bracelet, bronze brooch, Constantinian coin, tanged and barbed arrowhead.

{5} SP803564. Large quantities of Iron Age and Roman pottery, as well as roof tiles, part of a rotary quern, a bronze brooch and bracelet, Roman coins and a barbed and tanged arrowhead. Firebars, perhaps indicating the site of a kiln, are also recorded.

{6} Puddingstone quern and a Barbed and Tanged flint arrowhead. R Hollowell Feb 64. The RB bracelet (Authy 1) is in the possession of Mr J Parson, Houghton Lodge Farm. (SP 804566) IA and RB sherds, coins of Constantine and Constantius, RB roofing tile and quernstone. R Hollowell 1962. (SP 801562) RB sherds, roofing tile and stone scatter. R Hollowell.

{7} A few sherds were retained by Hollowell, the rest of the finds are now in Northampton Museum.
