Monument record 3478/0/1 - Possible Romano-British Building

Possible that this is a mis-location of the excavated villa site to the west of Piddington? Alleged site of Roman Buildings, although no later investigation has been able to locate the site.

{2} The published site falls on arable land at present under crop. The farmer knows of no archaeological finds from the field and said there are no apparent traces of a former building. First published on OS 6" 1958. No other information can be found on it, nor is it visible on air photo RAF 541/341, No 3210. The site appears to lie on ground subject to the meanderings of the adjacent stream, now straightened. The publication may have been an attempt to locate the building found at Piddington in 1781.
