Full Description

{1} During the digging of foundation trenches in 1970 large quantities of Roman and medieval pottery, apparently of late C3rd to early C4th AD were discovered. (Medieval and later pottery was also recorded.)

{2} Pottery found in a foundation trench dug for building in 1970 included sherds of Roman coarse shelly ware, a flanged mortarium sherd of the late C3rd or early C4th, and sherds of Nene Valley grey ware, one small sherd of Stamford ware and Medieval sherds. [SMR note 14/02/2011: the source says 'Walgrave St Peters' so unsure whether grid reference is correct.]
