Monument record 3867/0/1 - Probable area of Iron Age activity

A large ditch, several smaller ditches and pits with associated Iron Age pottery, were observed during the excavation of a gas pipeline in 1966

{1} An Iron Age V-shaped ditch (6ft deep) was revealed during the excavation of a gas pipeline. Iron Age pottery and possible pits were also observed;

{2} A V shaped ditch 6ft deep and several smaller ditches and pits seen in gas pipe trench in 1966. Fragments of possibly Iron Age pottery.

{4} Mr Callis the land owner said that the above description was correct. The finds being of no importance were left on the site. No surface evidence of former occupation seen in the area.

{5} SP 85316641, immediately to the S air photoghraphs (in NMR) show, rather indistinctly, what may be part of an irregular enclosure.
