Full Description

{1} Excavation of Iron Age enclosure, ditches and postholes. The largest ditch formed the south corner of an enclosure. The ditch was V-shaped, 3m wide at the top and 1.3m deep. The post holes could possibly mark a gateway. Belgic pot sherds were also found. The quoted grid reference appears inaccurate.

{6} A major ditch enclosure was represented by ditch 1. Less than half was seen- the rest was outside the area of observation/excavation. Over 60m seen and planned, "as an arc of an eclipse". Ditch up to 3.8m wide and 1.3m deep. Pottery was middle to late Iron Age. No belgic material.

Ditch 2 was seen in the stripped area-most of enclosure was outside the observed area. Ditch was traced for 8m, running for 5m approximately E-W then turning at an oblique angle ENE to end in a clear terminal. Ditch was sectioned twice. About 0.7m wide by 0.64m deep. The terminal also had a double post hole 0.3 and 0.32m respectively. Pottery 2nd and 1st century BC.

{7} Unstratified finds of 8 Iron Age pot sherds from the school access road by the health centre. Finder was P. Foster
