Full Description
{1} Finds; unlocated Saxon silver penny of Edward the Confessor and silver coin of Offa;
{1-2} George makes no reference to Anglo-Saxon remains at Wellingborough other than the symbol on his map; VCH mentions only the coin (without any references), so that this is probably all that its symbol indicates - possibly George's also.
{5} A silver coin of Offa found in the neighbourhood of Wellingborough in 1874.
{7} Local archaeologists were consulted re Saxon finds in the area but none have been recorded. Neither Kettering nor Northampton Museums have Saxon coins from this region. Wellingborough has no museum.
