A group of Anglo Saxon burials with grave goods was found to the north-west of the village during ironstone working in the 1920s. [HER note: precise location of cemetery unknown. Conflicting records]

Full Description
{2} Possibly located at SP873835. Anglo Saxon burials were found north-west of the village during ironstone working in the 1920s. Seven urns were revealed (now in both Kettering and Northampton Museums). A pair of girdle hangers were also discovered. SP 873835. Anglo-Saxon burials. The Saxon pottery has been published.
{5} Features found in the 1920s. Early Saxon inhumations and grave goods including two bronze girdle hangers, which were found near skeletons covered by stone slabs. Other finds of three early Saxon undecorated pot vessels, one buckelurne and three other pot vessels. Found during ironstone extraction at the Storefield Mines.

{1, 4, 5} Finds from Storefield mines, Newton c1924/25 included a handled EBA beaker (now in the BM), and seven AS urns (3 undecorated 1 much restored and 1 of Buckelurne type) with metal items (all in Kettering Museum). Also found was a pair of Anglian girdle hangers (in the BM).
