{1} In late 1970s a machine-cut trial trench was opened by B.Bellamy; area of metalling was revealed; possible Romano-British road; sketch location plan in supplementary file;
{2} Together these interventions at least provide a reasonable guide to the course of the main road through the core of the settlement.
