Monument record 3962/0/1 - Settlement Earthworks Around All Saints Church

Evidence of medieval settlement shrinkage, formerly part of Rushton All Saints, lie around All Saints Church on the south side of the existing village street. There are a number of low earthworks including a pond, mounds and embanked closes which are probably the remains of former houses and gardens. Buildings were cleared by 1837.

{1} SP 840 827-843 828: Settlement remains formerly part of Rushton All Saints, lie around All Saints Church, on the south side of the existing village street, on sand at 91metres above OD. The various low, disturbed earthworks, including a pond, mounds and embanked closes, are probably the remains of former houses and gardens etc. The area was devoid of building in 1837.
