Full Description

{1} 4 trial trenches located limited post medieval and modern activity; 2 undated cut features; 1 sherd of medieval pottery of C13th/14th recovered.

{2} Four trenches were excavated. The trench outside the courtyard contained a single undated posthole, a dump of burnt debris, an ironstone-lined well, and two amorphous shallow features: none was earlier than the 17th century and all could be considerably later. The trenches in the courtyard revealed a shallow series of dumps, leveling deposits, and yard-surfaces together with some robbed out walls. The oldest of them was of a 17th or 18th century date, although a small rock-cut ditch and gully at the south-west could be earlier.

{3} Post medieval rubbish dumps; evaluation by G Cadman.
