{3} [SP 87778930] RB bronze bird on ball found on spoil-heap, after a ditch 1-2 feet deep had been dug by hand, in June 1959. In possession of Mr M Seaborne, No.11, Spencer Walk, Corby.

{7} Finds of Roman pot sherds were also made including Samian and a stone from a possible building;

{8} The bronze bird was brought in by school boys who had found it in the Spring of 1959. The ditch had been dug some time in the preceding winter. The find spot was visited in June, 1959, and c. 20 sherds of RB pottery were found in the spoil-heaps at the site {10}. The bird is certainly RB; a rare specimen, probably from a lamp or similar piece of domestic furniture {11}.
Nothing of significance was seen in the area of the find-spot; the woodland is being converted into a park for Corby New Town. The bronze bird is at present at Northampton Museum for examination and the sherds are in Mr. Seaborne's possession.

{9} A bronze eagle on a globe is mentioned in the gazetteer.
