Full Description

{1} Fragments of three Bronze Age collared urns were found in a store-room at Desborough Co-operative society. They are now on loan to Northampton Museum. Two were found in 1908.
One is a large collared uwn with about a quarter of the lower body missing. It has an internal rim-bevel decorated with an incised chevron design, a conves collar decorated with six to eight discontinuous grooves and the neck with eight continuous grooves. It has a plain body and small base. It was found in 1908 inverted over burnt human bone.
The other is a collared urn recovered in fragments from a box of geological specimens. It is almost complete and biconical in form. The rim-bevel and neck are decorated with horse-shoe shaped impressions and the collar with stroke filled alternating triangles all executed in twisted cord. It was found about 1908 perhaps 'in fragments along with cremated bone'.

{4} There are three other Collared Urns in NM, two of which were found in 1908 from ironstone quarries west of the town.
