Full Description
{1} Finds made between 1906-8, during ironstone extraction. Three 'early British wells', found 6m below the surface. Also associated with them were human bones, Roman pot sherds and Saxon pot sherds.
{2} During the past 3 years the excavation of ironstone has brought to light a number of early remains as well as 4 wells of early date...they were about 20 ft from the surface and passed through the Northampton sand (the ironstone bed) to the lias clay.
