Full Description

{1} A coin of Hadrian of Pamonia mint.

{2} Many Roman sherds, generally small, were found in December 1969, scattered over an area of about an acre and spreading into both Draughton and Lamport parishes. The sherds were C2nd-3rd/4th in date, and comprised mainly grey ware and colour-coated ware. Two sherds of mortarium were also found and a few calcite gritted sherds. One oyster shell was noted and a scatter of small pieces of sandstone near the centre of the site. Finds were given to Northampton Museum.
A coin of Hadrian was found in October 1943 on the Draughton field.

{3} Large quantities of Roman pottery, mostly colour-coated and grey wares of the C2nd-4th, were found in 1969 and near the centre of the area there was a scatter of sandstone. A coin of Hadrian was found in the same area in 1943.
