Full Description

{1} A concentration of mesolithic flint around SP983719 may represent remains of seasonal camps; Raunds Road Stanwick.

{2} Dense concentration of flints was found on the southern flank of the Raunds Brook - 268 flints in 2ha. Vast majority of flints tiny non-bulbar fragments - created by smashing rather than crushing action. Uncertain whether this is related to ancient or relatively modern activity - if ancient presumably represnts the product of an industrial process such as preparing flint temper for pottery manufacture.
