Full Description

{1}Trial excavation undertaken in 1988 by D Jackson. Pottery was retreived from early Saxon features;

{2} Beneath c 0.30m of modern cultivation soil, a large pit [a sunken-featured building] was revealed cutting 0.3m into bedrock and containing early early Saxon pottery. Two ditches were alos found but in the absence of any dating they may not have been contemporary; the excavator believed an Iron Age date was likely for the ditches. A further feature may have been natural or a large pit;
