Full Description

{1} Excavation of 1952 revealed 2 human skeletons orientated & cut through the fabric of the 2nd phase of Iron Age defences. No evidence of date was recovered.

{2} No grave goods were found. The burials are not thought to no earlier than late Romano-British or Saxon; Excavation was carried out by R.J.Atkinson at SP73875835;

{4}The remains of two poorly preserved burials occurred on the south side of the cutting near to the crest of the rampart. Undated; they lay in shallow graves which cut into the construction of the rampart.

{5} After Hunsbury Hill was abandoned as an IA hill fort a small inhumation cemetery was found at the crest of the rampart to the N of the SE entrance. (SP 73875835) This was uncovered in 1952 during a training excavation directed by R J C Atkinson. No grave goods were found with the burials, which are not thought to be earlier than late Romano-British or Saxon date.
