Full Description

{1} Finds of a small quantity of abraded Romano-British and medieval pot sherds. Not significant. Also a prehistoric elephant tusk, probably from the grey clay below 1st terrace gravels. Found during observation of c.7acres during flood storage reservoir construction. SP785595.

{2} Original site plans give following grid refs.:

SP794599: Medieval pot, horseshoes.
21 worked flints including 1 small scraper, 2 bladelets, 1 finely serrated small blade, 1 heavy blade, 3 flakes with misc. retouch, 13 flakes
