Full Description

{1}Prehistoric Burial (unlocated), in a stone cist, said to be Neolithic but perhaps later, was found somewhere in the parish in 1872.

{5} In 1872 a cist, 3ft by 3ft, was found in surface soil on high ground. It contained a contracted skeleton but no other finds. Info from Samuel Sharp.

{6} In 1872, upon high ground at Houghton (SP 7958) a cist was found in the surface soil, of dimensions about three feet each way. It contained a skeleton in a squatting posture, now in Oxford Museum. No pottery or other finds were present.

{7} Possible Neolithic date.

{8} No further information.
