Full Description

{1} Finds recovered by D.Smith in 1953 during building work. Romano-British pot sherds including Samian and tile; also medieval pot sherds; found near Welford Road in the second field beyond the Isolation Hospital at SP737647.

{2} RCHME give SP745642 but this is incorrect.

{7} Also found was a quern, prehistoric flints and a sherd of Samian drag 33.

{8} A large number of RB sherds including Samian, found last year during drainlaying on a new estate near the Welford Road, in the second field beyond the Isolation Hospital. The field next to the hospital is due for building operations.
(Reference to Burrows Street plan of Northampton indicates a siting at SP 737 647).

{9} Northampton Museum also record a few worked flints from this field but nothing from the next. No recent finds are noted.
