Summary
A possible Anglo-Saxon settlement indicated by the site of a probable Grubenhaus with 17 early to middle Saxon potsherds in its fill was discovered in 1976.

Full Description
{1} Archaeological observation during excavation of sewer trench in 1976. Early-middle Saxon grubenhaus seen as a shallow flat-bottomed pit, 3m wide with a posthole at one end in the section of the sewer trench. It was at least 0.25m deep. Seventeen sherds of early-middle Saxon pottery found.
